Open Classroom Leadership Magnet Celebrates Experiential Learning at their Annual Fall Fest

Over the last four weeks Open Classroom Leadership Magnet (OCLM) students have been embracing the school’s fall theme of “Imagineers” – a theme that focuses on bringing each student’s extraordinary imagination to the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM).

By working in K-5th grade cohorts, the students have been traveling to different classes for experiential learning in the areas of STEAM. Students’ dedication to this thematic area of study was celebrated on Friday, November 22nd with OCLM’s annual Fall Fest, an all-day field trip at the Civic Arts Plaza.

During Fall Fest students had the opportunity to take part in rotating “centers,” which were focused on a STEAM related activity. Community partners CReATE Studio, and Mamba Sports Academy, each hosted a “center.” In the afternoon students watched a Science Show.

The event was a collaboration of efforts from students, teachers, staff, parents, and community partners to celebrate the unique, experiential learning of the OCLM community.

OCLM is a Conejo Valley Unified School District magnet school. Opportunities to enroll in OCLM for the 2020-2021 academic year are now available via the School Choice Application, available online here.
