Third grade teacher Krista Gonzales receives special recognition from Chamber of Commerce, District
With the start of the 2016-17 school year, the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce is once again teaming up with Conejo Valley Unified School District to shine a light on educators with its Teacher of the Month recognition program.
On Tuesday, September 27, in a surprise celebration, Westlake Hills Elementary School 3rd grade teacher, Krista Gonzales was named CVUSD’s September Teacher of the Month.
Krista has been a teacher at Westlake Hills Elementary School for the past 12 years. She was selected as teacher of the month because of her dedication to engaging and supporting all students in learning by demonstrating the following key criteria:
1. Open doors by recognizing diverse needs of learners
2. Exhibit high professional standards
3. Engages with families and the community
Krista is an agent of change in promoting both District level and schoolwide initiatives such as: Enrichment Block, broad-based use of technology, differentiation of instruction, school-wide leadership, District committees, school culture and climate. Daily differentiation for all levels of students is a staple of Krista’s lesson plans and she is constantly trying new teaching strategies to accommodate a variety of academic levels, as noted by Erin Anderson a 2nd/3rd grade teacher at Westlake Hills Elementary who nominated Krista for this recognition.
To celebrate Krista’s September Teacher of the Month recognition, members of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce congratulated her with gifts from their local businesses. Additionally, members from the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and CVUSD Superintendent, Dr. Ann Bonitatibus presented Krista with a commemorative plaque recognizing her achievement.
Thank you Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce members and congratulations Krista!
