Sonia Wilson Named New Director of Elementary Education for CVUSD
Sonia Wilson was announced as the new Director of Elementary Education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District at the regularly scheduled Tuesday, June 5 meeting of the Board of Education.
Ms. Wilson comes to the District from Exeter Unified School District where she has served as Principal of Wilson Middle School for the past five years.
“We are very excited to welcome Ms. Wilson to CVUSD,” said Dr. Mark McLaughlin, Superintendent of CVUSD. “Ms. Wilson’s diverse professional experience, and unique qualifications will be an invaluable asset as she leads our Elementary Education department, and continues the legacy of exemplary educational experiences provided to our elementary students.”
Ms. Wilson was recently a finalist for the CVUSD Director of Middle Schools – Professional Learning position, and was identified as a great fit for, and subsequently offered, the Director of Elementary Education position with CVUSD.
Ms. Wilson has 23 years of educational career experience. Prior to her role of Principal of Wilson Middle School, she served as the Learning Director of Lindsay Unified School District, the Learning Director of Curriculum and Instruction of Lindsay Unified School District, and as an Academic Coach for Exeter Unified School District. She also held classroom instructor roles at Exeter Unified School District, and Lindsay Unified School District including being an English/Language Arts Teacher and a 5th and 6th Grade Teacher.
Ms. Wilson has a Master of Arts in Reading/Language Arts from Fresno Pacific University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Fresno State.
This announcement of Ms. Wilson’s new role with CVUSD comes after Jeanne Valentine, current Director of Elementary Education was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
