Sequoia Middle's Shannon Baranski Named CVUSD's Teacher of the Year
In a surprise celebration on Tuesday, May 29th the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Conejo Valley Unified School District honored Shannon Baranski of Sequoia Middle School as the 2017-2018 CVUSD Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. Baranski has been a teacher with CVUSD for twelve years, and is currently in her seventh year at Sequoia Middle School. She is an instructor for DISCOVER English 8CP and 8Honors, and Sequoia English 8Honors. She is also the school’s English Department Chair, and W.E.B. Advisor.
Earlier this year Mrs. Baranski was selected as CVUSD’s April Teacher of the Month, making her one of ten CVUSD Teachers of the Month honored during the 2017-2018 school year.
Mrs. Baranski is an innovator, problem-solver and dynamic member of Sequoia’s Leadership Team whose enthusiasm for teaching is immeasurable. She is dedicated to her students’ success, and she voluntary provides after hours English support classes for struggling students. Additionally, she affords priceless opportunities for students to develop leadership potential. She coordinates service projects to the school and community, fosters students development of strong moral character and encourages students to accept, and welcome differences in others.
Mrs. Baranski remains current with the latest instructional strategies and technologies. She inspires her students to learn via the professional development experience and innovations that she has pursued and mastered. She is a truly dedicated and valued member of the Sequoia Middle School staff, serving as Department Chair, a leadership teacher, on multiple committees on campus and within the District, and as a co-leader for the Builder’s Club.
To celebrate Mrs. Baranski’s CVUSD Teacher of the Year recognition, members of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, representatives of local, elected officials and District leadership including CVUSD Superintendent Dr. Mark McLaughlin, Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources Robert Iezza, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services Lou Lichtl, and Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, Lisa Miller presented Mrs. Baranski with a certificate recognizing her achievement. Mrs. Baranski will be publicly honored as the 2017-2018 CVUSD Teacher of the Year at an upcoming Board of Education meeting.
