Meet Shawna Randolph of Walnut Elementary - Our June Teacher of the Month

The Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Conejo Valley Unified School District are teaming up to shine a light on educators with its 2017-2018 Teacher of the Month recognition program.

In a surprise celebration on Tuesday, May 15th Shawna Randolph of Walnut Elementary School received the June Teacher of the Month recognition award! Ms. Randolph is a 5th grade teacher at Walnut Elementary, where she has been an instructor for the last six years and counting.

Ms. Randolph Is a budding educator whose calm presence, forward thinking, relationships with students and staff and ability to assimilate new information for the benefits of students has made her a teacher to admire.

She voluntarily provides both formal and informal professional development for all teachers at Walnut and uses her expertise in technology to assist the staff in providing better instruction to help students meet 21st century standards.

She consistently provides a supportive and challenging classroom environment by holding high expectations for all students and differentiating instruction effectively to help all students succeed, including those with special needs, emotional challenges, and English language learners.

She promotes active learning in the classroom by having students set their own goals, monitor their own progress, and use Google classroom to give feedback during lessons, collaborate with peers and participate in real-time editing with the teacher and other students.

She has contributed significantly to the school culture and has helped move Walnut forward in achieving site goals by serving on the LCAP Leadership Team, as an upper grade lead teacher and as an administrative designee.

She is a truly respected and valued member of the Walnut Elementary School staff who strives to keep instruction relevant and engaging, actively participates in school and community-building events for families, and makes every effort to encourage a positive, collegial environment on campus for students.

These are just a few of the reasons the Conejo Valley Unified School District and the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce are proud to announce Ms. Randolph as the District’s June Teacher of the Month!
