Congratulations Malinda Young of Sycamore Canyon School - CVUSD’s May 2022 Teacher of the Month!
Malinda Young makes content come to life for her students. She uses the newest trends and creates engaging games and activities to make learning mathematics fun! An educator at Sycamore Canyon School for more than 17 years she is a well-respected member of the teaching team. We and the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce are proud to recognize Ms. Young as the May 2022 Teacher of the Month!
Ms. Young is incredibly dedicated to teaching and to her students. She supports and engages students in the learning process by making connections with them. She takes the time to learn about each individual who walks into her classroom.
Ms. Young captures the interest of her students by creating a learning environment that promotes collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving and reflection.
She is a team player who collaborates with teachers at her school site as well as with teachers across the District to ensure consistency. She lends her expertise and provides guidance to her peers, new teachers and substitute teachers. She has been the math department chair at Sycamore Canyon School for 14 years.
Ms. Young communicates regularly and effectively with parents/guardians about classroom activities and student successes. She also started a club on campus called Builder’s Club that showcases service-oriented philosophy as it pertains to working with families and the community.
On Tuesday, April 26th the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Conejo Valley Unified School District surprised Ms. Young with the May 2022 Teacher of the Month recognition during a virtual staff meeting. Ms. Young was presented with a “virtual commemorative plaque” (a plaque will be delivered to Ms. Young). Thank you Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce for your continued partnership for the Teacher of the Month Recognition program. Congratulations Ms. Young!
