Erika Johnson Named CVUSD's New Director of Special Education
Erika Johnson, M.S. CCC-SLP was announced as the Conejo Valley Unified School District’s new Director of Special Education at the Tuesday, May 1st Board of Education Meeting for the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
Ms. Johnson currently holds the position of Special Education Coordinator for the Conejo Valley Unified School District. She will start her new role as Director of Special Education on July 1, 2018.
As the Director of Special Education she will work collaboratively with parents and community members and work across disciplines to facilitate cohesive systems that ensure access and equity for students with disabilities. She will also provide oversite for activities related to the District’s SELPA Local Plan, serve as the Special Education Compliance Officer, and perform other key duties for students who receive additional, specialized services.
“We welcome Ms. Johnson to her new role, a role that is a great fit for her education, experience, and qualifications” said Dr. Mark McLaughlin, Superintendent of CVUSD. “Since she is already a coordinator in the special education department, this will allow for a seamless transition in leadership, allowing the focus of our Special Education Department to remain committed to meeting the educational needs of all students that receive specialized services.”
Prior to joining the CVUSD Special Education team, Ms. Johnson held the Special Education Coordinator position with Rialto Unified School District. She also has professional experience as a Speech Language Pathologist with both the Rialto Unified School District and the San Bernardino City Unified School District. She holds a Masters of Arts, Educational Administration degree from the California State University of San Bernardino, a Masters of Science, Communicative Disorders degree from the University of Redlands, and a Bachelor of Science, Communicative Disorders degree from the University of Redlands.
Ms. Johnson will be replacing Lisa Miller who was announced as the District’s new Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services at the Tuesday, April 3rd Board of Education Meeting.
