Brian Mercer Named CVUSD's Director of High School - Assessment

On Tuesday, May 1st the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education announced that Brian Mercer was selected as the District’s Director of High School – Assessment, a new position for CVUSD.

Brian MercerMr. Mercer comes to CVUSD from Las Virgenes Unified School District where he currently serves as the Principal of Agoura High School, and as the Clear Administrative Services Credential – Coach, for LVUSD’s Center of Educational Excellence.

Mr. Mercer is set to begin his tenure as CVUSD’s Director of High School – Assessment on July 1, 2018. He will be responsible for planning, organizing, monitoring, and directing the development, implementation and assessment of curriculum for high schools, providing leadership for the instructional program, providing support to all high schools in the District, and implementing new programs that meet mandated educational reforms for high schools, amongst many other key responsibilities.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Mercer to this new role at CVUSD,” said Dr. Mark McLaughlin, Superintendent of CVUSD. “His knowledge, and experience in secondary education will be a priceless asset to our District as we continue to provide our students with premier educational experiences that prepare them for success after graduation.”

Mr. Mercer’s career in education spans nearly 20 years. He has experience as a teacher in middle, and high school classrooms, as well as in a variety of administrative roles, including Athletic Director, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal at the secondary level. He has a Master of Arts degree in Education and Leadership, and a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential from San Jose State University.

The Director of High School – Assessment is a new role for CVUSD, and stems from a reorganization of roles and responsibilities within the District’s Instructional Services Department. This new role will position CVUSD to continue to best serve, and provide premier educational experiences for its students and families.
