Free Digital Library Access and Books for All California Students

We’re excited to share that the California Department of Education (CDE) is offering the Gift of Literacy by partnering with Renaissance Learning to ensure that every California student can access thousands of engaging digital reading resources for free during winter break by visiting

From December 1, 2021, to the newly expanded date of February 28, 2022, any California student can benefit from free access to thousands of myON books in English and Spanish. Students can also read myON daily news articles in English, Spanish, or French. Content downloaded during the two-month period will be still be available when access the window closes.

Students who are not already reading with myON may participate in this exciting partnership by following these simple steps to log in and start reading:

  •   Go to and click on “myON login”

  •  Sign in using the single statewide shared account credentials

    • School Name: Gift of Literacy

    • Username: myon

    • Password: read

·         Select a book or news article and start reading!

This is a great opportunity for CA families to create a lifelong love of reading and encourage them to access the school or local library moving forward.
