CVUSD Summer Learning Camp is in Full Swing!

CVUSD is proud to provide an elementary summer school opportunity to approximately 425 students entering grades 1-5 for the 21-22 school year. Summer Learning Camp is a fun summer camp themed learning experience for students who have learning gaps due to the effects that COVID realities have had on school and learning. Our big goals for our campers is to help them become more connected, capable, and confident to begin accelerating their learning.

Summer Learning Camp runs July 12-August 5. Campers are at school from 8:30-12:00 each day in “bunks” or classes of 15 or less students. During Camp, learners have daily Social Emotional Learning (SEL) time with opening and closing “campfires," read and discuss literature using Scholastic’s LitCamp curriculum, work on individualized learning software paired with teacher-provided mini-lessons to teach skills that students need, do creative art projects each week, engage in fitness and fun game opportunities like obstacle courses, Hip Hop Fitness, kickball, jump ropes, Left-Center-Right, and camp games, sing camp songs and enjoy music outside, have fun Spirit Weeks and dress up days, and build connection and new friendships with students from their own and other schools.

Campers received school supplies and a camp t-shirt for their 4-week camp time. Students all take home lunch/breakfast each day from Child Nutrition. There is an overall camp focus on Social Emotional Learning and getting students excited and ready to return for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

There are three Summer Learning Camp locations - one for each CVUSD cluster:
