Each year, CALSA recognizes its members who have made significant contributions to eliminating the Latina/o/x student achievement gap. This year Dr. Huang was selected as the “CALSA Honoring Our Own State Principal of the Year” for his distinguished leadership and excellence.

Dr. Huang is a firm believer in growth mindsets and building a culture of active learners rather than passive students. In addition to this, he is focused on equity and diversity and currently serves on the Conejo Valley Unified School District’s Inaugural Equity Task Force. He started his career teaching toddlers and preschool aged children before becoming an elementary school teacher and then TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) focused on curriculum and second language acquisition. Dr. Huang has also spent time teaching learners at Pasadena Unified School District, Chino Valley Unified School District and Burbank Unified School District and Post Secondary candidates in the MAT Program at the University of Southern California as an Adjunct Professor. Dr. Huang has served as the proud principal of Madroña Elementary School in the CVUSD since 2019.

The CVUSD is so incredibly proud of Dr. Huang! The Conejo community is lucky to have him as a dedicated leader, who goes above and beyond to create communities of inclusion to support all learners.
