Congratulations Jacqueline Meir - our February Teacher of the Month!

The Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Conejo Valley Unified School District are teaming up to shine a light on educators with its 2017-2018 Teacher of the Month recognition program.

In a surprise celebration on Tuesday, February 13th Jacqueline Meir of Los Cerritos Middle School received the February Teacher of the Month recognition award! Ms. Meir is a veteran English teacher with 22.5 years as a teacher at Los Cerritos Middle School and 23.5 years total as a teacher with the District.

Ms. Meir is a dedicated teacher who encourages students to think deeply, and outside of the box, while ensuring that they are engaged and comfortable with expanding their ideas beyond what is expected.

She effectively utilizes instructional strategies that accommodate the needs of students with diverse learning abilities, including honors students and English language learners.

On a daily basis she provides rigor to students at all levels using reflection, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity while setting them up for success with scaffolding, modeling and knowing when to flex the instructional strategies

She promotes an open door policy for communication with students and parents by posting all assignments and classroom learning goals on the school’s website, and providing feedback on student growth, accomplishments and challenges.

She has also been instrumental in the success of the professional development training program for California Lutheran University student teachers at Los Cerritos, placing them with appropriate teachers on campus and providing an open door for student teachers and their mentors to share concerns and accomplishments. She has served as the liaison between LCMS and CLU’s Professional Development School program for eight years. Ms. Meir recently received the Exemplary Teacher Award during the Seventh Annual Professional Development School (PDS) Conference at CLU for her commitment to this partnership.

Ms. Meir is truly an asset to Los Cerritos Middle School with her limitless ability to inspire students to be independent thinkers and self-advocates with an enhanced desire to succeed!

To celebrate Ms. Meir’s Teacher of the Month recognition, members of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce congratulated her with gifts from their local businesses, and CVUSD Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources, Robert Iezza presented Ms. Meir with a commemorative plaque recognizing her achievement.

Thank you Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce members and congratulations Ms. Meir!
