New Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources & New Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services Announced

The Board of Education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District announced at its regularly scheduled Tuesday, December 5 meeting that it has appointed Robert Iezza as the new Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources and Lou Lichtl as the new Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services for the District.

These formal appointments come after Dr. Mark McLaughlin, former Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, was announced as the new Superintendent for the Conejo Valley Unified School District at the Tuesday, November 7 Board of Education meeting.

“We welcome Mr. Iezza and Mr. Lichtl, two veteran leaders of CVUSD, into their new roles,” said Dr. Mark McLaughlin, CVUSD Superintendent. “Their institutional knowledge of the District, more than 50 years of combined experience, will allow us to seamlessly move forward in providing premier educational experiences to the students and families we serve.”

Robert Iezza, the new Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources, served as the District’s Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services for the last five years. During his 30-year career in CVUSD, Mr. Iezza has also served as Director of Elementary Education, Principal of Conejo Elementary School, Principal of Maple Elementary School, Assistant Principal of Madrona Elementary School, Dean and Assistant Principal of Instruction at Newbury Park High School and as an adaptive P.E. teacher.

Mr. Iezza is a longtime resident of the Conejo Valley, with his children receiving their K-12 education at CVUSD schools.

Prior to being named as the new Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, Lou Lichtl held several different leadership roles in his nearly 20 year tenure with the District. Since 2009 Mr. Lichtl served as the Principal of Thousand Oaks High School. Prior to that he was the Principal of Redwood Middle School, Assistant Principal of Westlake High School, and Assistant Principal of Thousand Oaks High School.

Mr. Lichtl has a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Pepperdine University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from California State University, Long Beach.

Congratulations to Mr. Iezza and Mr. Lichtl!
