Welcome. As part of the district’s commitment to keeping their employees and the public informed on the progress of the Superintendent succession process, we have set up this page, which will be dedicated to the latest updates from the Board of Education, both in hiring an Interim Superintendent, as well as a new Permanent Superintendent.
The Board of Education (Board) of the Conejo Valley Unified School District initiated its process in May for selecting a new superintendent, beginning with a series of Special Board Meetings dedicated to this procedure. These meetings were held on May 8th, 9th and 30th, 2017.
During these meetings, a plan was put into place to search for an Interim Superintendent who will serve for the 2017-2018 school year.
The CVUSD Human Resources Department posted the job for an Interim Superintendent on relevant job boards in mid-May, and applications will be accepted until June 9, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. The board has set time aside to review the applications on 6/13 and 6/14, with tentative interview dates of Saturday, June 17th (2-5:30 p.m.), the evening of Monday 6/19, and 6/20 (all day).
The Board of Education (Board) of the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) announced on Tuesday, 6/20, during its regularly scheduled meeting that Dr. Mark W. McLaughlin was the applicant selected to fill the Interim Superintendent position. His start date is June 22, 2017 and will continue through the 2017 – 2018 school year. Dr. McLaughlin has been the CVUSD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources since 2013, and in that time, has supervised the placement of staff for 27 schools, as well as District office level positions. More information here.
Moving forward, the Board is anticipating beginning their search for a permanent Superintendent in January of 2018. At that time, the Board plans to collect input from the district as well as community groups, as was done in the most recent search.
