CONEJO VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD MEETINGS

Order Of Business

Meetings of the CVUSD Board of Education are held in the South Building Board Room at the District office, located at 1400 East Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, California 91362.  Regular meetings occur on the first and third Tuesday of each month, with closed session beginning at approximately 5:00 p.m. and open session beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m.  Only one regular meeting is held in July and one in August, at the Board's discretion. Special meetings are convened as needed. 

Posting Of Agenda

An official copy of the agenda is posted at the District office, located at 1400 East Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, California 91362, Newbury Park High School, 456 Reino Road, Newbury Park, California  91320, Thousand Oaks High School, 2323 Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks, California  93060, Westlake High School, 100 North Lakeview Canyon Road, Westlake Village  91362, California and CVUSD Grounds & Mechanics Office, 750 Mitchell Road, Newbury Park, California  91320.  Agendas are posted 72 hours before a regularly-scheduled meeting and 24 hours before a special meeting.  The public may view agenda attachments in the administrative division of the Superintendent’s office [insert time period, e.g., every Monday morning prior to regular meeting].  Agendas and attachments are also posted online at [insert website address], and available in hard copy at each meeting.

Agenda Schedule Is Based On Best Estimates

The agenda is prepared with best estimates of when an item will be called, and the length of time needed for each agenda item.  The Board may call agenda items at an earlier or later time than estimated, or consider and act upon agenda items in a different order.  Therefore, all persons who are interested in any item on the agenda are advised to be present throughout the entire meeting to ensure that they are present when the item is called.  Please be further advised that the Board may occasionally need to postpone agenda items to a future meeting.

Language Interpreters

Oral Public Comments

The Board welcomes public comments.  To comment on non-agenda items, please submit a speaker form (blue card) to the recording secretary prior to the Public Comments section of the agenda.  To comment on an agenda item, please submit a speaker form (blue card) to the recording secretary prior to the Action portion of the agenda.  Filling out the speaker cards is voluntary, but will assist the Board in efficiently running the meeting.  Public comments are limited to three minutes per speaker.  If there are numerous persons wishing to make public comments, the President of the Board may decrease the amount of time allotted for each speaker.  Please present your comments in a factual and respectful manner.  Participants engaging in disorderly conduct may be ordered to leave the meeting.  Finally, please be advised that except in limited situations the Board cannot enter into a formal discussion or make a decision in regard to any item not appearing on the agenda.  However, the Board or staff may briefly respond to comments or questions from the public; ask clarification questions or make announcements; direct staff to place an item on a future agenda; request staff to report on an issue at a future meeting, or provide reference to staff or otherwise inform members of the public where they can locate additional sources of factual information.

Written Public Comments

If you wish to register your opinion on an item, but not speak, you may fill out a public written statement form (yellow card), and hand it to the recording secretary.  Board members will review these forms after the meeting.  The information on these cards will be become a part of the public record.

Local Channels

During the school year, Board Meetings are televised on Spectrum Educational Channel 20 (Verizon Fios Channel 32 and Charter Cable Channel 59) every Wednesday and Friday at 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays at noon. This schedule will continue for two weeks or until the next meeting is televised.
